About Us
The Jazz Composers’ Co-op is run by leading jazz Big Band musicians keen to support the growth and development of the genre through new compositions. The 17-piece Big Band of leading Australian musicians meets on the last Monday of each month to perform works by selected composers.
Our rehearsals are a space for sonic exploration, where tradition meets innovation and personal vision is keenly encouraged. Here, composers are invited to develop their own musical language, mastering the tools that bring imagination to life within the rich, expressive canvas of the big band.

Composers
Each month composers will be selected through the application process to attend and present their current works for performance. Each composer has 30 minutes with the band to workshop new pieces, receive feedback and record ‘Work-in-Progress’ versions to assist with their compositional processes.
Interstate composers are allocated an hour with the band!
Who We Are
The musicians who form the JCC Big Band each month are many of the leading players in the Sydney jazz scene. As such, the musicians who attend each month will vary due to performing and touring commitments.
